As little as £14 a month enables us to provide healthcare, food, shelter or home maintenance to an older adult.
Eventually, we will all reach an age where we will look to trade in our busy lifestyles for one of rest and relaxation. However, this is not a luxury afforded to all of our elderly, with many suffering in silence due to the effects of poverty.
The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) said:
“He is not one of us who does not show mercy to our young ones and esteem to our elderly.”
- (At-Tirmidhi and Ahmad)
At Al Mustafa Welfare Trust, our Honour the Elderly campaign enables donors to sponsor the care of a vulnerable elderly person. We provide essentials like healthcare and shelter, while also actively working to combat loneliness.
Just £14 a month enables us to provide healthcare, food, shelter, travel expenses or home maintenance to an elderly person in need. Your sponsorship helps elderly people stay connected to the world around them, helping us to tackle the fight against loneliness, neglect and social isolation in old age.
With people living for longer, the number of elderly people rapidly increases. The World Health Organisation estimates that the proportion of the global population aged over 60 will increase from 605 million to two billion by 2050.
Many of today’s elderly people live in poverty and, with no one to turn to for support, are often left to suffer in silence. This does not conform to the values taught in the Holy Qur’an, where the elderly hold immense respect.
We are constantly striving to help vulnerable elderly people in need. By providing necessities such as food and accommodation, we can work to ensure a better quality of life for our older generation. The number of older adults living in isolation in countries such as Pakistan is alarming, but with your help, we can work to put an end to this.
