Prophetic Qurbani 2026

Prophetic Qurbani - Revive a Forgotten Sunnah

This year, let's revive a sunnah of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) by sacrificing two shares of Qurbani.

The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) sacrificed two rams during Eid ul-Adha, one for himself and one on behalf of those in his Ummah who could not afford to do so.

Al Mustafa Welfare Trust invites you to join us and revive this beautiful sunnah of prophetic Qurbani, making double the impact to those in need, and reaping double the rewards.

The additional Qurbani will mean that more impoverished communities will be able to enjoy Eid, and also that more people will reap the benefits of Qurbani because of you, and in turn giving you an even greater reward. Follow his beautiful Sunnah and bring joy to vulnerable families this Eid.

What is Prophetic Qurbani?

Prophetic Qurbani is a way to bring back the Sunnah of our beloved Prophet Muhammad (PBUH)

Prophetic Qurbani refers to an additional animal sacrifice performed during Eid ul-Adha on behalf of those who are financially unable to offer a sacrifice themselves. It is the act of giving a second Qurbani, one for yourself and another in the name of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) and his Ummah.

Unlike a standard Qurbani, which is an individual obligation for eligible Muslims, the intention behind a Prophetic Qurbani is to include those who cannot afford to sacrifice, allowing them to partake in the act of worship and the celebrations of Eid ul-Adha with joy and dignity.

We encourage all our Muslim Ummah to revive this Sunnah and help more needy people worldwide.

Prophetic Qurbani FAQs

A regular Qurbani is the obligatory annual sacrifice for eligible Muslims during Eid ul-Adha. A Prophetic Qurbani is a voluntary, additional sacrifice given on behalf of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) and members of the Ummah who cannot afford their own sacrifice. The intention is charitable rather than fulfilling a personal obligation.

Scholars advise that if you are eligible for Qurbani (i.e., your wealth exceeds the Nisab threshold), you should perform your own Qurbani first. The Prophetic Qurbani is an extra, voluntary sacrifice that follows your own obligation. If you are ineligible (below Nisab), you may still donate towards a Prophetic Qurbani as a voluntary act of charity.

The time for Qurbani begins after the Eid salah on the 10th of Dhul Hijjah and can be performed until sunset on the 12th of Dhul Hijjah. Al Mustafa Welfare Trust ensures your Prophetic Qurbani is performed within this window in the countries where it is needed most.

Eligible animals for Qurbani include small animals like goats and sheep, and large animals such as cows and camels. There are specific Islamic guidelines on the animal's age and health to ensure the sacrifice is valid. Al Mustafa Welfare Trust carefully selects animals that meet all these criteria on your behalf.

Al Mustafa Welfare Trust distributes Qurbani meat to the poorest communities across 21 countries, reaching vulnerable families who could not sacrifice and would otherwise go without fresh meat during Eid ul-Adha. Your donation directly enables more families to celebrate with joy, dignity, and a nutritious meal.

Over generations, many Muslims have been unaware that the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) used to sacrifice a second animal on behalf of those in his Ummah who could not afford to do so. Because this practice fell out of wide observance, it is described as a forgotten Sunnah. Reviving it carries an immense reward.
