Bismillah. I’m looking to support this fabulous project to build a water purification plant as an ongoing sadaqah jariyah. It is a means for all of us to be united under the umbrella of khayr of this charity – coming together in goodness, which will benefit countless people, save lives and create sustenance and livelihood. Allah SWT has said in the Quran that He has created every living thing from water. The blessing of Zamzam gave Hagar and Ismail (as) not just sustenance in the form of survival but a whole civilisation that was formed in Makkah in the depths of the desert. In this day and age, we know the single biggest public health intervention has been the provision of clean water, which has eradicated countless communicable diseases. By the same token, human exploitation, global warming and warfare, where water has become a political commodity to divert and cause death through “starvation”, economic exploitation by multinationals in order to rebrand and sell in fancy plastic bottles, has resulted in developing countries such as Pakistan being hit the hardest by both drought and flooding. Our blessed Prophet (saw) described giving water as the best charity (Ahmad) and he was more charitable than the wind, especially in Ramadan.
