Understanding Sadaqah Jariyah for Deceased

Sadaqah Jariyah is unique in Islamic teachings since it shows continuing giving that benefits both the living and the deceased. When we give charity in memory of someone who is no longer with us, we honor them while also continuing to receive blessings.

We can relate Sadaqah Jariyah as planting a fruit tree. You only plant it once, but it produces fruit year after year. That's the beautiful concept behind Sadaqah Jariyah, and it will continue to assist you until the Hereafter.

Sadaqah Jariyah for deceased

Why is Sadaqah Jariyah Important for the Deceased?

In Islam, it's believed that certain good deeds can continue to benefit individuals even after they have passed away.

These include:

Continuous charity (Sadaqah Jariyah): As we mentioned, this helps people long after the giver is deceased.

Knowledge that benefits others: Maybe you offered helpful religious advice or taught others a valuable skill.

A righteous child who prays for you: Having children who are good people and pray for you is a true blessing.

Doing nice things for others and being charitable can provide long-term advantages, in addition to the good things you receive in the afterlife.

(The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) stated, "When a person passes away, his actions come to an end except for three: Sadaqah Jariyah (ongoing charity) , beneficial knowledge, and a righteous child who prays for them.")
