Aisha’s Journey of Displacement
In a temporary shelter on the outskirts of Gedaref lives Aisha, a mother of four who has now fled her home three times.
The first time, they left when fighting reached their village. The second, when food ran out where they had settled. The third, when even the camp they thought was safe began to empty as families searched for water elsewhere.
Each journey meant leaving more behind, first their home, then their belongings, and finally even the few cooking pots they carried from place to place.
Today, Aisha’s children no longer ask when they will go home. They ask when they will eat.
Most days she gives the little food she finds to the youngest child and tells the others to sleep early so they don’t feel the hunger. Clean water is collected from far away, and illness spreads quickly among families living close together under plastic sheets.
“I don’t remember the last time we felt settled,” she says quietly. “We only move and wait.”
Your support can provide families like Aisha’s with food, safe water, and protection, restoring not just survival, but dignity.
