Trek For Gaza - Hiking Mount Snowdon

It’ll be a climb, but we’re in this together! With every step of the journey, you will be motivated by the knowledge that the funds you have raised are returning hope to Gaza. This will be worth it.

On this trek, you will meet wonderful individuals who will be with you every step of the way, and you’ll have a shared mission: to show that we are not forgetting Gaza.

To get involved, please sign up for an early bird discounted registration fee of just £25. We can spend more than that in a cafe these days!

  2. You will be tasked to fundraise a minimum of £200 from now until September.3
  3. We take on Mount Snowdon on Saturday 7 September, insha’Allah!

Please note:

  • Registration fees are non-refundable.
  • We ask all volunteers to ensure they raise at least 200 GBP by Saturday 7 September.
  • The coach leaves from London around 11:00pm on Friday 6 September, and we will reach Mount Snowdon in the morning, insha’Allah. We aim to return by 11:50pm the same day, on Saturday 7 September, insha’Allah
  • If anyone wishes to make their own arrangements for travel, they are most welcome to, but please let us know so we can agree on a meeting time/point at Snowdon.

What is the name of the mountain and where is it?

The trek is in Wales and we will be taking the easiest route which is called, Llaneris but don’t worry it still will be challenging!

How long is the Trek?

The trek will start from 8.30am and we will get back down around 4.30/5pm (depending on the group.

Will there be trek guides?

Yes, there will be professional trek guides, to help and motivate you to reach the summit.

What date is the trek?

Saturday 7th September 2024

Where will the coach be leaving?

There will be a coach leaving ONLY from London – the meeting point will at 11.15pm on Friday 6th of September 2024, outside the East London Mosque, 82-92 Whitechapel Road, London, E1 1JQ. Note, to tell volunteers to look out for Al Mustafa banner outside the East London Mosque.

What time will we get back?

The coach will pick us up at 6pm after the trek on Saturday 7th September and we should get back before midnight, depending on traffic.

Can we meet you at Snowdon?

Yes, you can but make sure you arrive at 8am. The meeting point will be at Snowdon Mountain Railway, Llanberis, LL55 4TU. Make sure to let Shabana and Adam know if you are meeting us there.

Can I leave my things on the coach?

You can leave your things on the coach if you do not need them for the day. After the coach drops us to Mount Snowdon, the coach will leave and drive away to a hotel where the driver will be resting for the journey back. You will not be able to access the coach until it is time to leave. Please do not bring any valuables as we cannot take responsibility for this.Please do not leave spare clothes which you are hoping to change into for the journey back, as the coach will only be coming to collect participants and we won’t have the time to wait for people to get changed and then start our journey. (Note to bring spare clothing to change into after the trek.)

Will the coach stop for prayers?

Yes, we will be noting prayers times during the journey and also journey the trek.

Will there be service stops during the coach journey?

Yes, There will be at least one service stop on the journey to Mount Snowdon and at least one on the way back. The location and timings of these service stops are dependent on the driver and his need for a break. We cannot interfere with this.

Can I bring my child and do they get a discount?
  • Child must be 12 years above but must be with a guardian to take part in the trek.
  • 18 years above do not require a guardian.
  • No discount as the cost is already low and its to cover the expenses of coach, petrol, trek guides etc.

 

If the weather is severe then what will happen?

The trek guides will advise and if the trek has to be cancelled due to safety reasons then it will be re scheduled and everyone will be informed. 

What equipment do I need to get for the trek?

MUST have the following items otherwise trek guides will not permit you to hike Snowdon due to health and safety.

  • Waterproof breathable jacket,
  • Ankle high trekking boots
  • Double – strapped, padded bag to avoid back and shoulder injury,
  • Waterproof trousers,
  • Zipped fleece as temperature drops as we reach towards the top,
  • Synthetic t shirt to wear over your base layer and
  • Waterproof gloves
What NOT to wear
  • Jeans,
  • Trainers,
  • Leggings,
  • Jogging bottoms,
  • Wellington boots and
  • Single strap bags,
  • Islamic long clothing or dresses (as you may trip)
Does the Charity provide food?

No, the charity does not provide food, so make sure you bring food!

What food to bring for the trek?
  • Make sure you bring food for the journey and for the trek. You can keep food in the coach, as it will be the same coach picking and dropping us back.
  • During the trek, to bring snacks, such as dates, energy bars, sandwiches etc to keep your energy and WATER BOTTLES!
Will there be cafes at Snowdon?

Yes, there are a few cafés but we cannot guarantee that they will be open as they are independent and run according to their own schedules.

Are there any toilets on the mountain?

Yes, there is one within a café but we cannot guarantee if it will be open. 

Do I need to be fit to take part in the trek?

This trek is for everyone with a decent fitness level. If you are taking part, then try and do 4-6 hours of walk a week including walking on some hills. OR at the gym do some cardio, incline walking, stair climbing or even cycling. 

How do I sign up?

The registration fee varies based on the time you made the booking. The earlier you book, the cheaper it is. The cost will vary from £25 to £39.99. This will cover the transport from London to Snowdonia and back, cost of hiring guides, petrol charges for coach.

  1. If I change my mind, can I cancel?
    You can cancel your booking, but the registration fee is non-refundable under all circumstances. The money from registration is used to pay for the guides and coach deposit, this cannot be refunded. D
  2. Are there many spaces?

There are limited spaces and to advise to sign up immediately as once the spaces are fully booked then there will be no more tickets left to purchase. 

What will happen after I sign up?
  • Step 1- Email will be sent which will include an Information pack (brief summary about the trek and route, equipment needed for the trek and itinerary). Also, a medical and emergency next of kin form, which must be completed and emailed back to Shabana.
  • Step 2 – Shabana will give you a call to introduce herself and answer any of your questions,
  • Step 3 – You will be added to a community WhatsApp group – were the staff will keep you updated on the trek,
  • Step 4 – Launch good fundraising page will be made, and the link will be sent to you.
  • Step 5 – Shabana and Adam will keep in touch throughout your journey with us and during the trek. 
Which cause are we raising funds?
  • You must raise minimum £200 for the trek.
  • Project - Gaza emergency towards the hospital and food packs. Note the funds are zakat eligible.
