As a Muslim charity, we encourage Muslims across the globe to embrace acts of kindness during this Rabi ul Awwal, honoring the legacy of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH). This year, the 12 Rabi ul Awwal celebrations in 2024 offer a chance to act on the Prophet's (PBUH) teachings, particularly his charitable deeds. The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) devoted his life to serving those in need and promoting kindness. Through Sadaqah, Sadaqah Jariyah, and Zakat, Al Mustafa Welfare Trust invites everyone to follow the Prophet's (PBUH) example during this Rabi ul Awwal.
Charitable Sunnahs of the Prophet (PBUH)
the vital charitable deeds of the Prophet (PBUH), supported by hadiths:
- “Enjoining all that is good is a Sadaqah.” [Sahih al-Bukhari]
- “The believer’s shade on the Day of Resurrection will be his charity.” (Al-Tirmidhi, Hadith 604)
Sadaqah (Voluntary Charity)
The Prophet (PBUH) made Sadaqah a daily habit and generously helped anyone in need. He said, "The believer’s shade on the Day of Resurrection will be his charity" (Al-Tirmidhi, Hadith 604). This hadith underscores that generosity serves as protection and brings blessings for the believer in both this world and the Hereafter.
Sadaqah Jariyah (Ongoing Charity)
Sadaqah Jariyah benefits others long after the donation is made. "When a man dies, his deeds come to an end except for three things: Sadaqah Jariyah (continuous charity), beneficial knowledge, or a righteous child who prays for him" (Hadith 1631: Sahih Muslim). This highlights the long-lasting effects of Sadaqah Jariyah—such as establishing schools, wells, or supporting healthcare.
Zakat (Obligatory Charity)
Zakat, a required act of generosity, helps those experiencing poverty and purifies the donor's wealth. The Prophet (PBUH) said, “Protect your wealth by giving Zakat, heal your sickness by giving charity, and prepare yourselves to meet trials by supplication” (Al-Bukhari).
Zakat embodies the Prophet's (PBUH) commitment to justice and poverty reduction. Each of these deeds reflects the immense love and generosity the Prophet (PBUH) showed for humanity. By following his charitable Sunnah, Muslims can honor his legacy and contribute to improving society in this life and the Hereafter.
Al Mustafa Welfare Trust invites you to follow the Prophet's (PBUH) teachings during Rabi ul Awwal 2024 by making a charitable donation. You can make a lasting impact by sponsoring an orphan, sponsoring a hafiz, or helping to build a mosque, all of which are forms of Sadaqah Jariyah. Your contributions will support efforts to overcome poverty, improve education, and enhance healthcare, leaving a legacy that reflects the Prophet's (PBUH) philanthropic Sunnah and continues to benefit people for years to come.
