Not many 15 year-olds would have decided what they want to be when they’re older. But Fidaa has.

An orphan growing up in the Gaza strip, an education isn't something Fidaa could ever take for granted. Had it not been for the Hafiz sponsorship she received from AMWT, she would not be in school today.

Fidaa was only four when she and her siblings lost their father. He passed of a sudden heart attack one day, leaving behind a widow and three children. Fidaa’s mother had no income nor any means to earn a living. The family was helpless, relying on hand outs and charity aid.

Fidaa started school much later than her peers at her village school in Deir Al Baha. She was 7 years old when her hafiz sponsorship came through, and had a great deal of catching up to do. But Fidaa was studious, and demonstrated intelligence and a keen resolve.

Today Fidaa is memorising the 5th Juz of the Holy Quran. Alongside her Quran studies, she’s working hard at all her lessons. “I’m grateful to my generous donors who helped me in this hour of need,” says Fidaa, who enjoys using the computer at her school, and likes to draw and colour in her free time. “My wish in this life is to serve the children when I become a Paediatrician.”

By sponsoring a Hafiz with AMWT, you aren’t just giving a child the tools to learn the Holy Qur’an. You’re also giving them a better future and securing their present. Please Sponsor a Hafiz today
